Studium Louvre, Paris (from Art Deco and Modernist Carpets by Susan Day)
Interior decoration department of the Grands Magasins du Louvre department store on the Place du Palais Royal, founded and directed by architect and designer Etienne Kohlmann (1923–39), assisted by designer Maurice Matet. He was succeeded by Etienne-Henri Martin (1939–45), and later Roger Landault (19445–55). Designers associated with the Studium included Djo-Bourgeois, André Fréchet and Max Vibert, who designed most of the wallpapers, fabrics and carpets in the period leading up to the Second World War.
