S.A. Loevy

The Loevy family came to Berlin from East Prussia and established the bronze foundry S. A. Loevy in 1855. The family received commissions for numerous prominent buildings, among them the German Embassy in St. Petersburg. From 1900, the firm participated regularly in international expositions. In 1910 the firm began working with Peter Behrens. After World War I Loewy awarded assignments to Erich Mendelssohn, Mies van der Rohe, Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Walter Gropius.
