Ramón Puig Cuyàs is a jeweler who investigates and celebrates the world around him through his work. He was born in Mataró, Spain, in 1953. He discovered jewelry making as a form of artistic expression at the Escola Massana. After graduating in 1969, Puig Cuyàs returned in 1977 as a teacher. He continues to teach there as head of the Department of Jewellery. His award-winning jewelry has been exhibited throughout Europe, Asia, the United States, and Canada, and is in the collection of many museums.
Puig Cuyàs embraces art jewelry for its capacity to push him beyond the ordinary and obvious. He has poetically stated, “Creation is not communication, creation is loneliness, loneliness calmly accepted.”[1]
