Born in Belvedere, Illinois, Jeanne Gang received her undergraduate degree in architecture at the University of Illinois (1986) and her Master of Architecture degree at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University (1993). She also studied abroad at Zurich’s Swiss Federal University of Technical Studies. After graduation she worked with Rem Koolhaas (OMA) in Rotterdam before founding her own firm in 1997. She has taught architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, at Harvard’s GSD, Yale School of Architecture, and Princeton University. Among her many honors, she was awarded a Mac Arthur Fellowship in 2011 and the National Design Award from Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in 2013. Her work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, The National Building Museum, and at the Art Institute of Chicago.
