Barbara J. Loveland

Barbara J. Loveland was born in 1951. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking and Graphic Design from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University and has held faculty positions at both institutions. Loveland was hired by Herman Miller, Inc. as a graphic designer in the 1970s and during her thirteen year tenure at the company she rose to the positions of Senior Graphic Designer and Manager of Communications Design.

Loveland has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 1987 Herman Miller Outstanding Employee Ward and the West Michigan American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Fellow Award in 2017. She was also a Distinguished Teacher Finalist with Distinction in 1995-1996 at Ferris State University.

Most recently, Barbara Loveland has been working with Linda Powell in the establishment of the West Michigan Graphic Design Archives in the Zhang Legacy Collections Center at Western Michigan University.
