Auguste Daum

Glassmaker and industrialist, Auguste Daum was born in Nancy, France in 1853. He received a law degree from the University of Paris; however in 1879 he abandoned his legal career to join Verrerie de Nancy, the firm of his father Jean Daum. Upon joining the firm, Auguste took charge of its administrative and financial affairs. His brother Antonin, trained as an engineer and previously responsible for the firm’s production activities until he took control of the business following Auguste’s death in 1909.
