Wall Pocket, 17th century

Wall pocket in red satin, embroidered in polychrome silks and metal threads. Four pockets and a shaped top, each decorated with flowers, worked in satin stitch and shaded, and outlined with metal thread and with couched metal thread for foliage. Fruit, wheat, and birds also feature in the design. Edged with gold lace, bound with linen tape and backed with red brocatelle.
