Valance (England), 18th century

Long, straight valance in white with a resist design in two shades of blue. Incomplete pattern shows large scale foliage and flower. Edging of resist-printed tape in a simple blue and white vine design. Lined in blue-checked linen. Face down, below border with striped cotton in two shades of blue.
