Towel Cover, 1826

Towel cover embroidered in design of crossing diagonal lines enclosing flowers is above cross borders with initials “B.S.” The date, flowers, paired birds and animals worked in cross stitch. At the bottom is a band of drawnwork ornamented with flowers in darned and overcasting stitches. Edged with cotton fringe.
