Textile (Peru), before 600 AD

Part of mile-long piece (end not reached) brought back by Columbia University espedition; found in Cahuachi hacienda, about 15 miles from town of Nazca which is about 80 miles from Paracas. From cache of cloth to be used inside Paracas mummy bundles. White cotton, bleached (?). Heavy weft: Z-piled cotton (4 slightly s-spun strands). Heavier warp: 2-plied strands (2) of S-plied Z-spun cotton.
