Stencil, Kata-gami: Juniper Leaves and Berries, 1780–1830

Rectangular sheet composed of multiple layers of mulberry paper. A design of clumps of juniper branches and leaves with scattered berries of varying sizes is created by cutting away most of the ground leaving the positive of the design. The interstices of the design are supported by strands of human hair.
