Status Cloth (Democratic Republic of the Congo), late 19th century

A rectangular panel formed of three narrow pieces stitched together on the long sides with buttonhole stitch. Each piece is patterned with different diamond and zigzag patterns with irregular fillings in cream and dark brown raffia pile with reddish-brown outlining stitch.
