Print, Ein façonirter Schreib-Tisch,… (Writing Desk and Chair), ca. 1720

An elaborate writing desk is featured in a draped corner of a room with a bookshelf on the left and a window at right. Ornamented with globes at left and right, the desk features four sections with multiple drawers at the base, as well as a central cartouche shaped drawered section above. Decorated with swags, festoons, heavy architectural mouldings and surmounted by an astrolabe, this central section holds a candle, writing materials and a book rest above a slanted writing board. An equally elaborate chair is placed in front of the desk.
