Necklace with amulet Necklace, 19th century

Amulet: metal, probably silver alloy. Box 5.5 cm (2 1/8 in.) square, with cover having filigree and turquoise ornamentation including four triangular pieces at base, applied at each side of cover making overall dimension of cover an approximate square 6.5 cm. Hollow cylinders permit a cord with twelve beads (cord supplemented by neck ribbon) to suspend amulet from neck. Purpose of other cylinder, ornamented with twisted wire and conical ends, probably purely decorative.
