Mola (Panama)

Oblong panel of brilliant colored cottons, arranged in form of cut-out and applied techniques to show what appear to be highly stylized bird forms. Outlines of design are cut. Colors inserted in lines, dots, triangles, etc. Main ground color red cotton, plain blue, yellow-green, etc. and bits of figured stuffs. Stitching goes through to black lining which is allowed to show to form outlines.
