Hand-woven Sample (USA), ca. 1949

Handwoven partition material of open-weave plaid in natural tones with solid and open-weave areas. The bleached and unbleached hemp-like warps alternate with very finely plied cotton threads of brown, yellow and off-white mixed. In the dark horizontal bands, wefts of brown plastic alternate with wefts the same plied cotton thread. The interlacing is plain weave. In the lighter horizontal bands, the weft is a heavy white horsehair braid, interlaced in gauze weave.
