Hand-woven Sample (USA), before 1953

Hand-woven sample in a checkerboard of tan and silver rectangles. The warp is of white cotton, used in pairs. One weft set is aluminum strips and the other tan paper cord. Each weft appears on the surface in broad weft twill, with the complementary weft similarly bound on the reverse; patterning is created by the interchange of the two weft sets.
