Handwoven sample of a drapery fabric, never produced, in a subtle horizontal stripe. The warp is of orange-red cotton. The weft in the lighter bands is of black cotton paired with a very uneven white silk yarn. In the darker bands this weft is alternated with a heavy black yarn. The irregularities in the white silk yarn give an all-over effect of a subtly variegated, slubby surface.
