Fan Leaf, late 18th century

Fan leaf. Parchment painted in the neoclassical taste. Obverse: grisaille border of swans with swags. Three center panels divided by trompe-l’oeil pleats and smoking brazier motifs. At center, within a bead-like border, a woman with sleeping nude children within a broken arch. At either side, dancing figures in the style of Roman frescos beneath bull skulls and swags.
