Clock (France), 1807–10

Flat, trapezoidal base with four arches along bottom front edge. Base supports a stage-like interior surmounted by semi-circular pediment inset with clock. Interior features a large door back center decorated with winged Victories, and, on either side, draped windows. In center a woman seated in Empire-style chair plays a piano with winged griffon supports and upright music rack. Pediment is flanked by two griffins and surmounted by a pair of winged cherubs holding an octagonal plaque with a bust of Apollo. Circular clock face is enameled white, and is flanked by classical lyre trophies.
