From originally a set of seventeen buttons, of three different sizes, to go with the man’s suit of which 1939-57-30-a to c are parts – bone shapes covered with purple velvet uncut pile which forms minute hexagons each enclosing a round dot against a ground with short floats of secondary purple silk weft.
