Box (Italy), 18th century

rectangular wooden box, on oiutside covered with gold-tooled leather; sprigs of flowers on sides and surrounding raised central panel of cover, which in center bears coat-of-arms flanked by two quatrefoils, and in corners diapered scrolled cartouches – coat-of-arms: tierced in fess, 1] an eagle displayed, 2] a winged dragon, 3] three mullets on bend – surmouted by cardinal’s hat – brass escutcheon, hasp, and two bail handles – inside lined with red undrressed leather.
