Band (Peru), 11th–12th century

Long narrow wool band with series of “S” repeats, series of angular scroll repeats, and series of rectangular repeats made up of triangles, in dark green, red, white; framed top and bottom with green, yellow, brown guard stripes. Warps at each end plaited in two strips which merge into single thicker plait after 1″; separate again 1″ from end and terminate in 4″ fringe; chevron striped in plaited area from different warp colors.
